Create Beautiful Mundan Ceremony Invitations Online

Mundan, also called chudakarana, is a child's first ceremonial head shave, often done in the first or third year at a temple, a riverbank or at home with a priest. Ocvite helps you share the place, muhurat and travel plan with relatives and see who will join the journey.

Before You Send the Invite

  • Confirm the custom: home, local temple or pilgrimage site
  • Ask the priest for muhurat and required samagri
  • Book an experienced barber comfortable with small children
  • Carry soothing balm, a soft cap and a change of clothes
  • Arrange travel and stay for relatives if outstation

Little Things That Make It Easy

  • Travel-ready details — Add the temple or ghat location, reporting time, nearby stay and the lunch spot afterwards for relatives coming from afar.
  • Who is travelling — Track which families are coming and their plus-ones, useful when booking a bus, rooms or a dharamshala.
  • Early-start reminder — Mundan rites often begin early; a reminder the evening before helps everyone reach on time.
  • Cheerful child-friendly cards — Use bright artwork with a photo of your child, or a classic design with temple motifs.

Hosts & Families Often Ask

How do I make a mundan invitation online?
Open the mundan templates on Ocvite, choose a design and edit the child's name, the muhurat, and the temple or home address. Add a schedule if there is travel, a puja and a meal. Share the link to WhatsApp groups and track replies so you can plan transport and food.
What should be written on a mundan invitation?
Write the child's name and parents, the date, the reporting time and the exact location, ideally with a map pin. If the ceremony is at a pilgrimage town, add the stay arrangements and where lunch will be. A short note on whether relatives should dress traditionally is also helpful.
When should I send mundan invitations?
For a home or local temple ceremony, two weeks of notice is usually enough. If the family is travelling to a distant temple or holy river, invite relatives four to six weeks ahead so they can plan leave and bookings. Send a reminder the evening before, since rites often start early.
How do I plan headcount when relatives travel with us?
Ask guests to reply with the number of people coming. The guest list shows attending, not attending and maybe along with plus-ones, which helps you decide on vehicles, rooms and meal quantities. Follow up with anyone undecided using a reminder well before bookings close.
At what age is mundan done and where?
Many families perform mundan in the child's first or third year, often choosing an odd year, though customs differ by region and community. It may take place at home, at the family deity's temple, or at a pilgrimage site near a holy river. Follow the guidance of your elders and family priest.
