Dish category guidance
List starters, mains, sides, desserts and drinks, and note how many people each dish should serve.
At a potluck, every guest brings a dish, so the real challenge is avoiding five pasta salads and no dessert. Send a potluck party invitation with Ocvite that explains the food categories and serving times, and track who is coming and what they plan to bring.
List starters, mains, sides, desserts and drinks, and note how many people each dish should serve.
Use guest notes and plus-ones to see confirmed dishes and spot gaps, such as missing desserts.
Send one link to a workplace, apartment or community group and let everyone reply on their own.
A reminder before the event prompts guests to cook, pack serving spoons and arrive on time.

Choose a food-friendly template, enter the date, time and venue, and explain in the notes which dish categories you need and how many each dish should serve. Customise colours if you like, then share the link. Guests reply with their attendance and can mention their dish.
Explain that it is a potluck, what the host is providing, and which categories guests should cover. Suggest a serving size, ask for veg, non-veg and allergen labels, and mention whether reheating facilities are available. Include a deadline to share dish choices so you can avoid repeats.
Send them ten days to two weeks in advance so guests have time to plan, shop and cook. Ask everyone to confirm their dish a few days before. A reminder the day before helps people remember serving spoons and containers.
Assign broad categories in the invite, or ask guests to mention their dish when they reply on Ocvite. As responses come in, check the guest list notes and message anyone whose dish overlaps. Keeping one or two simple backup items at home covers any gaps.
A simple rule is to ask each guest or family to bring a dish serving roughly as many people as their own group multiplied by two or three, or a fixed number like six to eight portions. Mention the number on the invite so quantities stay sensible.
